Absence makes the heart grow fonder ...

So what were the elements that conspired to bring R&B's Siamese twins back together? "It was right for us", says the blond-maned Hall, stating the obvious. "The timing was important; if we'd taken our solo work longer, it would have been too long. It would base hurt Hall and Oates as a unit. We could sense that." The catalyst for the duo's latest album, Ooh Yeah, was Oates's decision to build a new home studio. That was followed by two small projects that got the pair's creative juices flowing together again.

"It was an unspoken thing." Oates recalls," It kinda happened when both of our brains started writing again. I started by building a studio. I brought in an engineer and as it was finished. I asked him to show me how to use it. I'd say. "While you're doing that, here's a song idea." Then Daryl came over and he had an idea and then we began doing demos. It was a very natural process."
